"How has the Catalan character influenced the country's architecture?", asks architect Joan Roig in front of a good twenty subscribers of ARA, members of the Club Prèmium, at the entrance of the exhibition "Seny i rauxa. Notícia de l’arquitectura catalana" (Sense and passion. News of Catalan architecture), which takes place at Disseny Hub Barcelona until the beginning of September. It is precisely the dichotomy "seny i rauxa" (sense and passion), prudence and passion, that defines Catalans, which also defines Catalan architecture, in the opinion of Joan Roig, curator of the exhibition, together with Victòria Garriga and Carme Ribas."Seny i rauxa. Notícia de l’arquitectura catalana" reviews the last 150 years of Catalan architecture, since the founding of the School of Architecture until today, through a wide variety of pieces, both architectural material – sketches, plans, models and photographs – and artistic and design works – paintings, sculptures and furniture – with an innovative approach that links the artistic and architectural legacy with expressive movements and social dynamics. All of this is not exhibited chronologically or by style. And what order does it have? Go see it! In addition, one of the attractions is that there is a lot of "unpublished" material, which was kept and is very difficult to show.

During the visit, the Premium subscribers showed particular interest in several pieces of furniture, such as a bed by Gaspar Homar, works of art - by top-division painters: Ramon Casas, Joan Miró, Pablo Picasso... -, and some of the most important plans in the history of Barcelona, such as the Cerdà Plan for the Eixample. They spent a good amount of time observing the original drawing of Gaudí's Casa Batlló - or one of his assistants? -; it is one of the few drawings by the brilliant architect that have survived, as all those at the Sagrada Família were burned at the beginning of the civil war, in 1936. "I will return, I will come back calmly with a few friends; there are so many things to see!", comments one of the attendees at the exit. It is one of the unsolicited "tasks" of Premium subscribers: they become prescribers of what they have enjoyed. From ARA we are preparing a lot of proposals for the Premium Club that will take place after the summer. We will go to a good part of the great artistic exhibitions of the new season, yes, but we will also have very unique experiences.50% discount offer: if you are a subscriber, take advantage of the summer offer and join the Premium Club at half price to enjoy all cultural and journalistic activities and enjoy other advantages such as browsing Ara.cat without advertising or giving an annual digital subscription to whomever you wish.
