Fuze Tea drives the rise of ready-to-drink tea

The Coca-Cola brand preserves the original taste of a soft drink with more than 30 years of history

Consumption of ready-to-drink tea (ready-to-drink, RTD) is booming in Catalonia. Proof of this is that in the first eight weeks of 2025, this beverage category has grown 4.1% in value and 4.6% in liters consumed compared to the same period last year, according to the data analysis company Nielsen. The category's strong performance comes just this year, as Coca-Cola has made Fuze Tea its only ready-to-drink tea brand, offering a blend of tea, fruits, and herbs without gas, ideal for drinking cold.

Fuze Tea is present in 90 countries, but is also packaged at the Coca-Cola Europacific Partners factory in Martorelles-Montornés (Vallès Oriental). Plant manager Manel Mogollón emphasizes that the recipe for Fuze Tea Original Flavor was created more than 30 years ago. "We guarantee the preservation of the original flavor formula that all consumers know," he says. This is supported by an independent blind tasting study recently published by the OCU (Spanish Consumer Organization), in which Fuze Tea Original Flavor is recognized as the most traditional flavor.

Javier Murga, head of Fuze Tea at Coca-Cola Europacific Partners, aims to "double the value of the ready-to-drink tea category in Spain by 2030," an easily achievable goal because in Spain "per capita consumption is low," at five liters per person per year, compared to other countries. Furthermore, in this beverage category "there hasn't been much innovation," and Murga hopes to achieve this with "new flavors, packaging, and capacities that adapt to each consumption occasion" and that will help deseasonalize it beyond the summer.

Fuze Tea Fusion arrived on the market in 2023, and Fuze Tea Original Flavor in September 2024. Fuze Tea Original Flavor now includes the Lemon flavor (the low-calorie, sugar-free flavor produced in Martorelles-Montornés) and Passion Fruit Green Tea. Consumer interest in exotic flavors like this one has led to the distribution of Mango-Pinya in the Iberian Peninsula, which until now was only sold in the Canary Islands, where the Peach flavor is also available. The range is now completed with the Peach and Hibiscus Fuze Tea Fusion.
