BarcelonaAlejandro Grimaldo has wanted to make it known that he is homesick. After a decade playing away from home, first at Benfica and then at Bayern Leverkusen, the left-back has been rumored for days to join Real Madrid's new approach. Everything points to this being a request from Xabi Alonso, who currently coaches the club where Grimaldo plays and it will soon be made public that he is signing to be the manager of the Merengue bench.

"I am very happy to be linked with Madrid, it is an honor that people can think that I am at the level to play for one of the biggest teams in the world," he stated, letting himself be loved by the white club during the interview via video call from the Beach barHe also had time to reminisce about his Barça past: "What I want is to play for the best teams in the world, and if this opportunity comes, I'll try to take it, because it's what I've been fighting for since I left Barça."

He has bitter memories of that time, as he arrived at La Masia in the summer of 2008, when he was still a child. "My parents still tell me today that if they could take it back, they wouldn't let me go to Barça," he told the presenters of the Beach bar who nodded at this statement. Despite growing up far from home and the warmth of his parents, Grimaldo is satisfied with the decision he made, which has allowed him to dedicate himself to his passion: football. The Catalan club's stint at La Masia led him to settle in. In December 2015, as captain of Barça B, Grimaldo was transferred to Benfica, where he spent eight years.
