A fictional ARA with 51 short stories
With our slogan for every April 23d, "Read, love", we once again put together a very special edition. From the front page --a photograph taken at the Tàpies Foundation-- to the last page, it is a literary ARA, a collection of fictional stories that help us to understand the world in which we live in a different way from the news. For one day, we like to show the world through the eyes of writers. For one day we will venture beyond the borders of journalism through literature.
51 authors --Catalan, Spanish, and international-- have joined our initiative. You know many of them, but some will be a pleasant discovery. We also turn the tables on our usual sections: you will find Iu Forn writing the letters to the Editor and our Director, Carles Capdevila, doing the back page. It will be a newspaper to save, more unpredictable than an ordinary paper with surprising news.
In addition, this ARA includes a special 80-page supplement for Sant Jordi, dedicated to libraries, to mark the 100 years of the library network built by the Mancomunitat (1). "Libraries are a space of freedom and equality", writes our deputy director, Ignasi Aragay. This newspaper and the supplement are, then, an invitation to read. Happy Sant Jordi!
