BarcelonaCommunicator Elisenda Carod and her partner, screenwriter Xavi Fernández, became parents for the first time. The couple welcomed their son Guillermo on April 7, but waited until Thursday to announce the news to process the difficulties, now overcome, of the birth and the days following. Carod explained what Guillem's arrival was like. The afternoon of Catalunya Ràdio, a program she usually hosts and which, due to her maternity leave, is now hosted by Agnès Marquès. "Guillermo came into this world after giving his parents their first scare. It was a rather agonizing moment, one of those where you see your world crumble. It was the longest four and a half minutes in history," recounted the journalist, who explained that everything ended well in the end. The family spent seven days under the supervision of the newborn team at the Corachan clinic.

The journalist explained that she had contractions for 21 hours and that, finally, they had to perform an emergency cesarean section. During the delivery, they suffered a scare with the baby, although Carod avoided going into too many details. During her speech in The afternoon of Catalunya Ràdio, thanked the team at the Corachan Clinic, where she gave birth, for the care she received. "When you've had the biggest scare of your life, having the team of nurses, neonatologists, and midwives support you like this is appreciated," she said. Carod highlighted the empathy of the entire team throughout their time at the clinic.

"Motherhood is an unpredictable and brutal path that you can't even imagine," confessed the communicator, who assures that despite being very well informed, this new stage has surprised her. "Offer them help and hug them. You never know what hell they're going through," she said.

Shortly after her appearance on Catalunya Ràdio, Carod made a post on Instagram with the first images of her son. "We're already one more. Guillem arrived on April 7. He did it in style and with the show of a rockstar, with a hell of a scare that, luckily and thanks to the midwives and pediatricians at the Corachan Clinic, came to nothing," said the text that accompanied the images.

Carod announced she was pregnant in September 2024. And then she said it was "the biggest news" of her life. She had previously mentioned that she and her partner had been trying to have children for a while, but had encountered difficulties.
