Buenafuente lands on La 1 to strengthen its comedy offering
The new program on Spanish public television leaves the Reus native's continuity on TV3 in doubt.

BarcelonaThe last piece of La 1's renovation has already been placed: Andreu Buenafuente premieres his new program on RTVE this Thursday, Imperfect future, a weekly comedy show that will air right after The revolt, by David Broncano, a show co-produced by the Reus native's production company, El Terrat. In this way, RTVE is betting on a compact comedy block one night a week, a strategy it has already implemented previously by occasionally pairing Broncano's show with the late show by Marc Giró.
Buenafuente's arrival at RTVE leaves his future at TV3, where he had previously hosted the program, in suspense. Yourselves, in which he chatted with anonymous people about curious stories, and also several Christmas comedy specials. He's also been trying to create two similar programs on two different networks. Therefore, until Buenafuente concludes this initial run on RTVE, we won't know what will happen to his TV3 slot.
The new program, which will last one hour, will be structured around a monologue in which Buenafuente will share his perspective on current events. The program will feature Raúl Cimas, along with collaborators such as content creator Tamara García Romero and musician Sergi Estella. Late Motiv, latest late show that Buenafuente did. The comedian has pointed out that the new program is a compendium of the different formats he has done throughout his professional career. "Each television program is a challenge. I'm not discovering anything with that, but what I do notice is that in Imperfect future I have the opportunity to apply everything I've learned over the past 30 years. This project is, in a way, a distillation of all the programs I've done: stand-up comedy, collaborators, contact with the audience... everything comes together," Buenafuente explained in a statement.
A program from a theater and with an audience
One of the peculiarities of Buenafuente's new program is that it will follow one of the distinctive features of The revolt: as in the case of Broncano's space, Imperfect future It will also be performed in a theater, in this case the LaFACT theater in Terrassa, and will feature an audience of 700 people. This is not the first time the Reus native has performed a television program in a theater: it was the location he chose for the three Christmas comedy monologues for TV3 (You will work, Let them bomb us all and The 24th). "The fact that we're doing it in a theater isn't a coincidence; it's a very thoughtful decision. We want to harness the energy of these 700 people live to make each show unique, a weekly comedy special. As for the script, the goal is to approach this adverse world we live in with a critical, but also a very specific, perspective."
At the state level, Imperfect future will compete against the new Spanish series from Antena 3, Eva & Nicole, which also premieres this Thursday, and the reality show Survivors (Telecinco), which continues to enjoy strong ratings despite having been on the air for years. In Catalonia, the new comedy show will also be competing with a new release: Choose a card, a program that follows magician Pere Rafart on a trip through Catalonia as he prepares for the World Magic Championship.
