Antoni Bassas' analysis: 'Montoro or an insult to intelligence'

I'll start at the end: democracy, despite its obvious limitations, remains the system of government that treats people with the most dignity. And from there, we discuss some of the abuses of the system that make it exasperating.
For example, when everyone is clear about who Mr. Rajoy is and Mr. Rajoy continues reading HeBrand from his office as property registrar.
For example, Operation Catalonia. The collusion of public funds by the police to fabricate false evidence against political opponents with the government's knowledge and disseminated by ideologically aligned media outlets is evident. And despite the evidence, the Spanish justice system is not investigating the plot. Rajoy, Fernández Díaz, Cospedal, and Sánchez Camacho have all been heard by the Congressional commission. These three were recorded by Villarejo, and they said nothing, that there was no police plot, that there was no Operation Catalonia. Yesterday, Montoro, who proved that has lost faculties or everything is recast, or both at the same time.
Montoro: "But there are politicians in Catalonia who don't have to worry because they have abundant accounts, worth millions of euros, in a neighboring country. In Andorra. And there are others who say, 'I have it somewhere else...' And why? Apparently..."
Catalan politicians have money in AndorraAnd that's it. They feel unpunished. They act like Trump's lawyer, who taught him the three rules. Number one: attack, attack, attack. Number two: admit nothing and deny everything. And number three: no matter what happens, declare yourself the winner and never admit defeat.
Lying, systematically as in the Valencian Community.
Yesterday, before the judge, the Spanish government delegate declared that on the day of the flood offered the deployment of the army at 1:30 p.m. Not only was it not deployed, but the Valencian government sent the alert SMS to mobile phones after 8:00 p.m. when most of the 227 victims had already diedIsn't this proof of a government's irresponsibility? And everyone sees and knows it, and this unworthy president, Carlos Mazón, remains at the head of the Generalitat. And this destroys confidence in the system.
We're not asking for summary trials or popular justice. But the separation of powers in Spain is nowhere near what's necessary. The lies are constant. For example:
Catalonia is at the bottom of the list in terms of state budget execution. During the first six months of 2024, only 20% of the budget was spent. In Madrid, it was 57%.
It's true that the State has invested more in Catalonia in 2024 than in 2023, but the execution remains pitiful, which leads us to the same old exasperation: under these conditions, it's a great credit that Catalonia continues to export a quarter of all that Spain exports and represents around 20% of GDP. Sleight of hand, half-truths, cosmic slash, arrogance... they attack democracy more than they do the far right.
Good morning.
