TV3 loses Buenafuente's Christmas monologue and turns to Quim Masferrer

The comic book artist from Reus has been commissioned to present the New Year's Eve countdown on La 1, alongside Sílvia Abril.

BarcelonaAndreu Buenafuente's signing with RTVE left TV3 without the show YourselvesBut the Catalan public broadcaster hoped to maintain the comedian's presence in the now-traditional year-end monologue he has been performing since 2022. That won't be the case. La 1 has Buenafuente and actress Sílvia Abril – a couple – to present the New Year's Eve countdown, so TV3 has had to find an alternative plan, and the chosen replacement is Quim Masferrer, as ARA has exclusively learned.

The host of the program The Stranger He will produce a Christmas special that will draw heavily from the successful format that has been a hit on TV3 since 2013. This time, the actor won't be visiting any towns with fewer than 1,000 inhabitants; instead, the show will be filmed in a theater with an audience of around 700. The audience will be able to share their personal anecdotes related to Christmas and the holidays, and Masferrer will apply his usual humorous and friendly approach, just as he does with "the good people" who participate in... The Stranger.

Buenafuente returned to TV3 after an absence of almost eighteen years, when he signed his last regular program, titled Another thingThe only exception was two episodes of a special in which he interviewed Eduard Punset in 2011. His return was marked by a monologue reviewing the year's events, which he titled You will workThe public embraced the prodigal son's return, as the special drew an average of 594,000 viewers and a spectacular 28.4% audience share. This impressive performance was the deciding factor in signing him to create the weekly program. YourselvesDuring the holidays, I kept up that ironic summary of the year with Let's all get pumped up!which also achieved good figures: 481,000 viewers and a 23.3% share. The last program of the year will have been The 24thjoking about the movie The 47, which again fell in average viewers (403,000) despite rising in screen share: 24.1%.
