BarcelonaThe host of Versió Rac1, Toni Clapés, has announced that this will be the last year of the program with him at the helm. "This year, when I returned, I thought I've had enough," said Clapés in an interview on Bàsics de Betevé. During the conversation with Sandra Mestres, the broadcaster explains that "it is the year to finish" and that he has the feeling "of having completed a fantastic cycle". This year, Versió Rac1 turns 30. "It's been many years. I have the decision quite made," asserts Clapés. The broadcaster's announcement comes a few days after the change in leadership at the head of the station: Eulàlia Carbonell left the position last week and will be replaced by Francesc Cano.

In the latest EGM wave, Clapés' show reached 403,000 listeners (it had 336,000 a year ago) and was one of the few Rac1 programs that grew in audience. During his time at the helm of Versió Rac1, Clapés has achieved awards such as the Ondas for the show last year and also the Ondas for his radio career in 2014. For more than a quarter of a century, he has been the king of afternoon radio in Catalonia with five hours of daily programming and almost continuously —with the exception of April 2024, when he temporarily stepped down from hosting Versió Rac1due to medical advice.

At the beginning of this year, Clapés announced that he was preparing a television project with La 2 Cat. The comedy show, which was initially meant to be recorded at El Molino, will mark his return to television after eleven years. For the moment, however, the premiere date of the program has not yet been made public.
