The Nintendo Switch 2 is coming: release date, price, and confirmed games for a console that aims to be revolutionary.
Eight years after the release of its predecessor, the Nintendo Switch 2 arrives, with the intention of changing the concept of the hybrid console.

BarcelonaNintendo's new console, the Nintendo Switch 2, will be released on June 5, 2025. Last Wednesday, the Japanese company presented all the new features in a YouTube stream. The console has 4K resolution and will support 60 FPS (frames per second), meaning gaming will be a fluid experience that will allow for high-quality scenes, especially action scenes. The screen has HDR technology (high dynamic range, in its acronym in English), which improves the contrast of dark and light areas and offers more vivid colors, with sharper details. Nintendo has announced that the processor of its new console will be NVIDIA, although it has not yet determined what type. Nintendo Switch 2 has 256 GB of internal memory, eight times more than the original Switch, to store, among others, digital games and save data.
It is larger than its previous version, with a 7.99-inch screen, and much higher resolution, since it has FullHD capacity (1,920 x 1,080 pixels), unlike the Switch 1, which could only support up to 720p (1.28p). Another of the most visible new features in the new model are the legendary Joy-Con, the controllers that can be attached to or detached from the console: the new generation's are larger, with a button that allows you to activate the console's microphone to talk to other players, and they can be used as a mouse for compatible games.
The new Nintendo arrives with new games and also new prices. It will be released in two different ways: alone (€469.99) and in a bundle with the new Mario Kart World, which will be priced at €509.99. This is a considerably higher price than the original Switch, which launched at €329.99. The new games Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza, exclusive to Switch, will cost €89.99 and €79.99 respectively in physical form, and their digital versions will cost ten euros less. In other video games, there is the option of opting for versions for other platforms, such as PC, Xbox or Play Station. Nintendo, on the other hand, has a monopoly on games that can only be played on its console, such as the Mario, The Legend of Zelda and Metroid. This allows it to raise prices even further, although its star games were already around 60 or 70 euros at most.
To explain the new power of the system, the new games that the console will be able to run were announced in the Nintendo live stream: no less than Elden Ring, Star Wars Outlaws and Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition, graphically demanding games. The franchise has also surprised with the addition of new titles such as Split Fiction, Hogwarts Legacy, Hitman, Yakuza 0 and Borderlands 4The Nintendo Switch 2 allows you to play titles from the original Nintendo Switch, although some may not be compatible. Nintendo has also opted to adapt current games and offer new editions adapted to the new console. This is the case with the open-world series The Legend of Zelda, and also of the games Kirby and the Forgotten Land, The Astral World and Pokémon Legends: ZA.
