The desire to sink TV3

TV3 has been the leader for 16 consecutive years. It was before the most effervescent phase of the Process, during the years it rowed in favor of the independence project and with the current stage of managing the hangover, in which the nationalist brake has been applied, as a result of having three parties in its governing council with divergent country models such as ERC, PSC, and Junts. They are three different TV3s, but all three are leaders. And there are those who dislike this. Crónica Global wrote the piece “TV3 sees its audience leadership in danger”. They referred to the fact that in June it dropped one and a half points, to 12.9%, while La 1 rose to 12.6%. But the May results are completely distorted by a small television affair that the reader has probably heard mentioned in passing in a snatched conversation called the Football World Cup. If in prime time, in this era of audience fragmentation, achieving 15% already justifies bathing in underpants at the Font Màgica de Montjuïc, 40%, 50%, and even some 60% make for a whole orgy.

La 1's results are a direct consequence of having paid a fortune for the broadcast rights of the competition: 55 million euros, spent in a single month to be able to offer about thirty matches. TV3 doesn't spend much more than that buying series, programs, and sports rights from abroad… for the whole year, morning, afternoon, and night. The article from Crónica Global is accompanied by an opinion column titled "The decadence of TV3", which insists on this absurd narrative, because in 2025 TV3 not only signed its sixteenth year of leadership, but with 14.2% it increased its share by half a point compared to the previous year. And during what we've had of 2026, it has improved this mark, less precisely this World Cup June, which this media outlet under the umbrella of El Español clings to absurdly. But it is interesting to note that they prefer to say nice things about Pedro Sánchez's RTVE, with the hatred they profess for him, rather than admit TV3's just merits in achieving audience. The priorities are clear, thank you.
