The cultural magazine 'El Foment', free with the ARA this Sunday at the newsstand

GironaThis Sunday, October 12, ARA readers in the Girona regions will once again find a special gift with the newspaper: the third issue ofThe Promotion, quarterly magazine Published by the El Foment Cultural Foundation. The irreverent and versatile Albert Pla i Peyu are the stars of a new 116-page edition dedicated to Catalan culture, language, and gastronomy.

Any reader who purchases the ARA within the Girona region will be able to obtain the publication, published by the El Foment Cultural Foundation, free of charge. This is the second consecutive issue published by the ARA, within the framework of a collaboration agreement that seeks to "strengthen and promote Catalan culture, language, and gastronomy," in the words of the author. president of the Foundation, Candi Granés.

The third issue of the magazine The Promotion It also gives voice to María del Mar Bonet, who expresses her despair at the lack of environmental commitment. As in previous editions, the magazine includes a popular and traditional culture supplement. The Sibyl, which this time dedicates its main report to the Càntut project, promoted by Cassà de la Selva and now the main archive of Catalan oral heritage with more than 2,000 songs collected.

Finally, the magazine closes with reports on language and gastronomy. After focusing on the success of Paraulógico, writer and gastronome Jaume Fàbrega details the traditional recipe for carne de olla "just as it was made in a labrador" and also reviews different places in the Girona regions that maintain their traditions.

A publication with a "national vocation"

The Promotion It's a publication born in Girona with a "national vocation." With several spaces spread around Plaça Mercaders in the heart of the Barri Vell (Old Quarter), the foundation that gives it its name has promoted cultural and gastronomic projects since 2020 that aim to connect the entire Catalan linguistic sphere. There is a tavern, an inn, a school, and a center that organize different popular culture series.

But El Foment goes much further, programming all kinds of shows in different cultural spaces in Girona and the surrounding area. This year, for the first time, they have scheduled, in conjunction with Temporada Alta, a concert by Pau Vallvé and Angeladorrrm at La Mirona on November 21st, which will be the closing party for the fifth anniversary of the creation of El Foment. And for Ferias, they are organizing the fourth gloss combat, this year in Parc de les Pedreres, which has brought the resurgence of this phenomenon to Girona.
