The comedy about Catalan folklore that wants to be 3Cat's next big series

The platform premieres 'Departament Amades', co-produced by El Terrat

BarcelonaAfter Our house3Cat expands its commitment to comedy. The platform launches in 2026 with the premiere of Beladas DepartmentA new comedy series from El Terrat, Andreu Buenafuente's production company, will be available on 3Cat starting Tuesday, January 13th. The show takes a somewhat surreal premise: what would happen if the imaginary creatures of folklore were alive and walked among human beings?

The action of this six-episode, 25-minute comedy takes place in the drab and disdainful office of the Department of Folklore and Traditions of the Generalitat, also known as the Amades Department, in honor of the folklorist Joan Amades and his Catalan CustomsThe workers in this department are dedicated to disseminating traditions, cataloging legends, documenting festive imagery, and helping to preserve them. This is their official job, but the workers in this office have another mission, hidden from the general public: they are responsible for maintaining peace and order among the fantastic and mythological beings of Catalonia. Catalans cannot know that water women, witches, or minairones, and many others, exist, and that they are among them.

Familiar Faces

The cast of Beladas Department The series features a cast of actors well-known to the general public. Anna Moliner, with a long career in theater and television, plays the team leader, a woman dedicated to the cause. Her main supporter is a brilliant student played by Paula Jornet. Above them both are the head of the department, played by Joan Negrié; the Minister of Culture, portrayed by Ivan Labanda; and the Minister of the Interior, a role played by Mercè Arànega.

The comedy will also feature several special appearances, such as that of Alexia Pascual, a former contestant onEuphoria and star of the latest production of Sea and sky, And comedians Judith Martín, Óscar Dalmau, Miguel Noguera, and Andrés Fajngold. Two people closely linked to the El Terrat universe will also participate: Andreu Buenafuente himself, who will appear as the president of the Generalitat of Catalonia, and Berto Romero. The creators of the series, Júlia Cot and Jordi López Casanovas, define the fiction as "a sitcom "Office workers" mixed with fantastical elements. "Suddenly, you make a photocopy and there's the boogeyman in front of you," López explained in one of the promotional videos.
