The Aragon government has taken Toni Albà to the Prosecutor's Office for a tweet "celebrating" the death of Javier Lambán.
Javier Azcón's executive believes the actor may have committed crimes of slander and incitement to hatred.
BarcelonaThe government of Aragon has forwarded to the Prosecutor's Office a publication by the actor Toni Albà in X about the death of Javier Lambán, in which I came to say who rejoiced at the death of the former Aragonese president. "I never rejoice at someone's death... but in the case of a son of the eldest Ñ, I will make an exception," he stated. Now, Javier Azcón's executive has announced in a press release that the actor may have committed the crime of slander and incitement to hatred for "celebrating" his death. Therefore, he is asking the Prosecutor's Office "to investigate any resulting criminal and civil liabilities."
Actor Toni Albà has already sparked controversy. by other tweets in the past, particularly regarding a case involving Inés Arrimadas in 2019, which even prompted TV3 to speak out against it. Six years later, the Aragonese government claims that Albà's text "constitutes an offense and a contempt that seriously injures Lambán's dignity publicly" and "indirectly incites hatred, hostility, or, at the very least, constitutes an injury to dignity" because it generates "humiliation, contempt for the sake of contempt against defenders of the Spanish nation."
The government's action is due to the fact that they believe the insult is due to Lambán's position as president. According to Mar Vaquero, the Minister of the Presidency, Economy, and Justice of the Aragonese government, the complaint seeks to "defend the memory of Javier Lambán." "The government of Aragon cannot remain impassive in the face of such a serious attack on the dignity of someone who dedicated his public life to defending the interests of Aragon and Spain. Defending Javier Lambán also means defending respect for democratic institutions and coexistence in Aragon and Spain," he maintains.
