RTVE cancels 'Culturas 2' and is preparing a new cultural magazine

BarcelonaCultures 2, Presented by Tània Sarrias on La 2, the program will disappear from the schedule on November 27. Three years after its premiere, RTVE has decided not to renew the format. The cancellation comes alongside RTVE's announcement of a "new cultural magazine" that will premiere in January 2026 to strengthen La 2's cultural offerings.

Cultures 2 It was the Catalan version of Points of viewThe cultural magazine program, which Sarrias also presented on La 2 within the Catalan network and which is now part of the La 2 Cat programming, has been a highlight of the show. Through her social media, the presenter thanked her colleagues for their work and emphasized the program's importance to culture. "I could say many things to highlight the importance of a small but significant program like ours, dedicated exclusively to culture, which was chosen by industry professionals as the best cultural television program in Spain just a few months ago, but I prefer to focus on saying thank you," she said.

The cultural program featured established artists like Santi Balmes of Love of Lesbian, Antonio Orozco, and director and actor Josep Maria Pou, as well as emerging figures such as singer Carla Richter. The program's main focus was interviews and live performances of music, dance, and musical theater. It also included various regular segments dedicated to topics such as television series, music, gastronomy, film, and science.

Regarding the program Points of viewIt will continue to air at the same time, weekly, on Sundays on La 2 Cat. The segments of this program are the same as those of Cultures 2But the Catalan version adds topics such as video games, art, and an improvisation show always linked to a cultural news story.

The magazine that will replace Cultures 2 It will be an in-house production that, according to RTVE, "will reinforce the public service commitment of Spanish Radio and Television with a new, ambitious, and innovative approach to cultural dissemination." This new program will premiere in January and will feature diverse cultural content: music, literature, film, performing arts, and emerging trends. The project will also include interviews, reviews, and recommendations.
