A renewed 'Ara Estiu' to fully enjoy holidays and reading
The newspaper's supplement features new sections such as 'Shall we have sex?' and 'My best summer night'
Longer and more relaxed days lend themselves to reading at leisure. To meet this need, ARA already has its summer supplement ready, which this year arrives more renewed than ever with completely new sections that mix information, entertainment, and knowledge. Ara Estiu kicks off this Sunday in the print edition (Saturday on Ara.cat) and will be published until Sunday, August 30. On the web, all the supplement's content will be gathered in a special site that will have a prominent space on the digital cover.
Among the sections debuting this year is Fem sexe?, a consultancy where sexologist Beti Badia, known for her outreach work on social media and digital platforms, will answer major doubts and questions about sexuality. The specialist will address issues such as what to do to regain desire or whether sex is a biological necessity or not. Through her columns, she will break taboos and invite us to fully enjoy sexuality. For her part, this year journalist Selena Soro will be in charge of the section La meva millor nit d'estiu, a space where well-known figures from the country, such as Eloi Cordomí, Gerard Quintana, Carme Ruscalleda, or Martí Gironell, will share their nocturnal summer memories. Celebrities will also explain their favorite places in Catalonia in a section signed by Olga Vallejo.
In Ara Estiu, there will also be space for celebrities from here and beyond Catalan borders: from the People section, we will follow the news of popular figures from all over the world and explain what their holidays are like. What will Rosalía do this summer? And Aitana? Will there be surprise couples who find love during the summer? ARA will report on it punctually. In addition, every Sunday Joan Callarissa will be on duty to analyze current gossip news with irony and wit through Cabaret Pop. Another new feature this year is the section Què se n'ha fet de, in which we will discover the present moment of relevant figures, both Catalan and international, from fields as diverse as politics, sports, or culture.
Summer lifestyles
As usual, the Culture and Leisure section will have special importance in the holiday weeks supplement, integrating Styles, Culture and Media, which during these days becomes part of the summer publication. Lifestyle topics will be dressed for summer and will focus on travel, outings, fashion, and trends, all from a very practical point of view. There will be reports on cheap and yet-to-be-discovered destinations, on how to approach holidays when we cannot travel, or on how to care for pets during the summer.
Regarding culture, Ara Estiu will explain the most relevant concerts of the season and will also look for the best cultural proposals, as well as keeping up with current events. And every Saturday there will be a double page dedicated to literature, a summer appendix to the Llegim supplement. In addition, taking advantage of the fact that we have time to read in the summer, every day a well-known personality will recommend a book. Some of those who will recommend readings are Anna Sahun, Òscar Andreu, Laura Gost, and Xavier Grasset. Regarding Media, the best premieres from streaming platforms and television will be compiled, as well as the most relevant news from the media. Every Sunday the section will do television archaeology and recall series that were stolen,meaning fictions that were the subject of dispute or competition between different channels, such as when La casa de papel went from being a little-known fiction on Antena 3 to becoming a worldwide success thanks to Netflix.
On the weekend, there will also be two new sections: Pedalem i xerrem and En aquesta casa com s'hi viu. In the first, Mariona Ferrer i Fornells talks with cycling enthusiasts who will explain what the bicycle means to them and what this special relationship brings them. In the second, Jordi Mumbrú and Aniol Costa-Pau visit unique houses from all over the country and discover their secrets. Through these reports, readers will be able to delve into all kinds of homes, from a renovated farmhouse near Anglès to the house in Horta de Sant Joan where Pablo Picasso stayed between 1898 and 1899, and also in 1909.
Finally, the person in charge of closing the supplement will be Daniel Romaní, who this year will review the scientific heritage of Catalonia, visiting places such as the Natural Science Museum of Barcelona in the company of the director or the Pratdesaba Observatory in Vic.
