RAC1 breaks its audience record, but Ustrell closes the gap
The private broadcaster once again surpasses one million listeners
BarcelonaThe mantra goes that radio, in the summer, sees a noticeable drop in audience due to good weather. But this is the third year that Catalan-language radio has dodged the seasonal effect and achieved excellent results. RAC1 has posted its best ever figure, rising to 1,016,000 listeners. This is the second time it has surpassed the psychological barrier of seven figures, adding 74,000 new followers compared to the previous year. Catalunya Ràdio also improves in the comparison with the summer of 2024, having then had 639,000 followers and now 680,000. In total, 1,696,000 people listen to one of these two stations, making Catalan completely dominant on the airwaves.
The third station is SER, with 485,000 listeners, experiencing a sharp increase compared to the 355,000 of a year ago. COPE has 269,000 followers (an improvement of 85,000) and Onda Cero 157,000 (it had 136,000). RNE closes the ranking with 105,000 followers, 13,000 more than in July 2024.
Despite RAC1's clear leadership and Jordi Basté's clear dominance in the morning show duel, the fight in the prime time The radio scene has heated up. The host of the Godó Group station has dropped slightly from 755,000 listeners to 712,000, and Ricard Ustrell has 429,000 followers, 18,000 more than a year ago (due to a wave of EGM that was marked) son). The gap between the two is still large, at 283,000 listeners, but no longer the 344,000 of twelve months ago. followers), COPE (198,000, +79,000), Onda Cero (111,000, +20,000) and RNE, where Josep Cuní's morning show says goodbye with 68,000 connected, 16,000 more than a year ago.
RAC1 has made history again, after surpassing one million listeners by a hair's breadth in April. Raising this bar on a summer wave is truly newsworthy. The programs that have managed to improve their results (compared to a year ago, to eliminate the seasonal effect) are: You primeMarc Giró's r, with 142,000 listeners (+22,000), the 14/15 (114,000, +44,000); the RAC1 version from Toni Clapés, who remains unbeatable (336,000, + 17,000); he Don't know (155,000, +47,000), and the You say (143,000, +36,000). Only decrease, apart fromThe world on RAC1, the Oscars program The competition, which remains the leader with 189,000 followers in that segment but with 18,000 fewer than in July 2024. --BK_SLT_LNA~ Meanwhile, there is also a general increase on Catalunya Ràdio. The bunker says goodbye with an exceptional result: 96,000 listeners, 40,000 more than a year ago. Other increases include Catalonia midday (132,000, +2,000), The afternoon of Catalunya Ràdio (which with Agnès Marquès behind the microphone covering for Elisenda Carod has gained 133,000 followers, another 14,000), the Everything costs (132,000, +27,000), Women and days (73,000, +20,000) and the Catalonia night (94,000, +30,000). Only the weekday schedule drops The Night of the IgnorantXavier Solà leaves the program with 57,000 viewers, 12,000 fewer than a year ago. With these figures, and averaging the two waves of the previous EGM, the public broadcaster achieves its best results for an entire season. Don't get out of here. It does not appear in the EGM as a program of its own because it is integrated withinThe morning of Catalunya Ràdio in order to add another slot in the audience calculation, but it has 72,000 followers. A year ago, Quim Morales occupied that position and closed the year with 71,000 followers. The change of location has not harmed this program, presented by Marta Montaner, Juliana Canet and Roger Carandell, since in July of last year they remained at 66,000 listeners. And, beyond the review of the daily programs, the audience achieved by Crimes Fridays: 142,000 listeners.
Radio duels aren't limited to weekdays. The two main stations also clash over their weekend programming. RAC1 also leads here, with Clear path Xavi Bundó's: 500,000 people listen to him on Saturday and 516,000 on Sunday, which means an improvement of 31,000 and 28,000 followers on the figures for July 2024. On the other side of Diagonal, Roger Escapa has suffered more: the 30 or 30,000 on Sunday of the magazine The supplement This means losing 17,000 and 59,000 followers in one year.
SER wins in podcasts, RAC1 in live shows
The EGM also measures digital audiences, and in this case, RAC1 also leads the way, with 274,000 followers, a spectacular increase compared to the 193,000 a year ago. 119,000 followers are compared to 201,000.
However, these figures are the average of two very disparate measures: live viewers and podcasts. 108,000 for Catalunya Ràdio (+28,000) and 97,000 for SER (+33,000). (114,000, -20,000) and RAC1 gets 64,000 (+22,000).
SER once again reaffirms its dominance in Spain, pulling away from its rivals. It has improved its audience from 2,164,000 to 2,231,000, while RNE completes the quartet of improved results, but now at a much greater distance, going from 847,000 to 975,000.
Today x today goes from 3,110,000 to 3,247 million. Carlos Herrera on COPE also increases, but slightly less, with 2,763,000 followers (he had 2,665,000 a year ago). The improvement of Carlos Alsina, with More than one On Onda Cero, it's even more modest, going from 1,593,000 to 1,638,000 listeners, but it still represents an improvement on its all-time high. And Josep Cuní bids farewell to his time hosting the RNE morning show with an upward EGM: he signs up with 734,000 listeners, compared to the 613,000 the program had in July 2024.
Music Radio
Catalan is also dominant on music radio. The ranking of thematic stations is led by Flaixbac, with 335,000 listeners, 77,000 more than a year ago. Los 40, the leader in Spain, has to settle for second place here: it only improved by 2,000 listeners, to 305,000. Next in line are RAC105 (220,000, up 32,000), Flash FM (197,000, down 87,000), and Cadena Dial (178,000, down 64,000).
And a notable fact: The morning and the mother who gave birth to him, by Flaixbac, has 200,000 listeners, which means that the morning show surpasses the morning magazines of generalist stations such as COPE, Onda Cero and RNE in Catalonia. On RAC105 the Matina Codina It also has a good following, with 138,000 followers (it does not exceed COPE, but it does exceed Onda Cero and RNE).
