Outrage on television over Mazón's resignation

After Carlos Mazón's appearance, in which he implicitly announced his resignation, all the networks were assessing his speech. Throughout the morning, we could detect varying degrees of indignation among some of the journalists and presenters. The time of La 1Silvia Intxaurrondo, in a controlled but vehement tone, emphasized:He dedicated one sentence, just one sentence!, in this entire speech, to the 229 people who died in the DANA storm."As if scolding Mazón, and looking at the camera, he even seized upon one of his phrases to challenge him with sarcasm and dramatic pauses: "Message for President Mazón… Former President: we now know how to distinguish between a man who makes a mistake and a bad person. Now… we know the difference.". On La Sexta, Antonio García Ferreras, the standard-bearer of the "more journalism"..., despite it being a hectic morning of television with many open fronts. It started, as usual, at eleven in the morning and began by insulting the president of the Valencian Country: "Mazón was a shameless, wretched, and deceitful man to the very end. His speech was full of victimhood and deceit...", and sarcastically added: "He almost finished his speech by saying that Pedro Sánchez forced him to eat with Maribel Vilaplana from three o'clock until a quarter to seven!"The strange thing is that on a morning so packed with news, with Vilaplana's testimony before the judge and the trial of the Attorney General, García Ferreras dedicated twenty minutes to interviewing the author of a history book about the conquest of Mexico, avoiding the more immediate current events that, at that moment, were shaking everyone.

On Telecinco, Ana Rosa Quintana was especially uneasy. She insisted on praising the resignation as an honorable gesture."He can't take it anymore. And he's talking about the future. How do we choose the next president? What's going on now?"You could see he was eager to move on and ended up raising his voice to manage the panelists who were dwelling on Mazón's victimhood. He even clashed with Eduardo Inda, who, as usual, was sitting next to him. The man was furious with the PP for having rushed a deputy to the prosecutor's office. Quintana defended the PP's tactic, arguing that perhaps Mazón should have resigned before he testified. Maribel Vilaplana used the first-person plural to complain:"Couldn't we have postponed this resignation until the day after tomorrow? Or the Jews?Inda lost his temper when Quintana defended the resignation: "Only right-wingers resign! Left-wingers never resign and they always win the narrative! And today is an undeniable victory for Pedro Sánchez! I say this with regret!"

In the general outrage, some are more genuine and others more theatrical. But anger and irritation end up becoming a kind of moral thermometer that betrays our instincts.
