The refusal of Mbappé, Vinícius, and Konaté to wear a solidarity shirt with Ceuta before the match against Elche has sparked an authentic pitched battle on social media and has fractured Madridismo into two irreconcilable camps. On one hand, there are those who consider these three players traitors to Spain and to the values of the club that pays them, and who, therefore, must be expelled from Real Madrid. And then there are those who consider that politics and sports should not be mixed and downplay it. What is happening? Well, the former are the ones who identify most with the stances of the PP and Vox, and accuse the latter (and the players themselves) of playing into Pedro Sánchez's hands. One of those who received the most backlash for not buying into this thesis was Manu Carreño, from Ser, who on the program El Larguero committed the sin of saying that the Ceuta issue was controversial and that "a football club can accommodate many sensibilities".

The list of insults he received on X is irreproducible in this section. Manolo Lama on Cope joined the lynching of the players and warned: "We will see how the Bernabéu responds, they are lucky that they don't return until October".

It was also funny how some professional polemicists from the far-right sphere, such as Juan Soto Ivars, took a beating for relativizing the footballers' attitude and, above all, comparing their gesture to not wanting to wear a yellow ribbon in support of political prisoners.
