BarcelonaAfter thirteen years together, Josep Pedrerol and Atresmedia have announced today the departure of the journalist, as well as the end of his program, El chiringuito, which will also cease to be part of the Mega channel's programming. The company assures that it is a decision that has been made by mutual agreement. The last broadcast of the sports program will take place on July 20, when they will have a special for the World Cup final. With this farewell, Pedrerol also ends his stage at the helm of Jugones, La Sexta's lunchtime sports program.

In the Atresmedia statement, Pedrerol highlights that in the thirteen years he has worked at the group he has enjoyed "absolute freedom." "If, in addition to informing with exclusives and the best debate, we have managed to provide company and elicit a smile every night with El chiringuito, we feel more than happy," he adds. For his part, José Antonio Antón, general director of Atresmedia Audiovisual, has thanked Pedrerol and his team for "their professionalism, commitment, and all the achievements during this time."

Pedrerol arrived at La Sexta in September 2013 to present Jugones. At that time, he was still in charge of Punto pelota at Intereconomía. In December 2013, disagreements with the management of the conservative channel led to his dismissal as director and presenter of the program. Pedrerol reached an agreement with Atresmedia to also make El chiringuito de Jugones, the successor program to Intereconomía's show.

Although it is not yet officially known what the new destination for Pedrerol and his program will be, a few days ago the Diario AS pointed out that the journalist was preparing his move to Mediaset, a rival group of Atresmedia.
