GironaThe program for this Wednesday, January 28th, of the 3Cat contest Catch Me If You Can, presented by Llucià FerrerIt's now part of Catalan public television history. Contestant Albert Coromina, popularly known as "the beast," brown "From Olot," has been eliminated after 158 programs. An absolute record number, which has allowed him to accumulate up to 69,500 euros. Thematic, always with a smile from ear to ear and offering a significant dose of theater and sense of humor. Poisoned and, upon his elimination, he received applause from the entire team and a warm hug from Llucià Ferrer, with whom he has maintained a great rapport since the first day. "A very nice farewell, frankly. A stage that closes with emotion," acknowledged Albert Coromina on ARA just before the broadcast of the final program.

A four-legged stool and being curious by nature

But what's been the secret to getting this far? Coromina draws a four-legged stool: "One is knowledge, which you must have. The other is strategy, which is very important, especially for managing poisoned chalices and knowing where everyone's weaknesses lie. Then there's composure, not getting nervous and treating it like a game, and finally, of course, having the talent." However, his general knowledge doesn't come from a life dedicated to research or teaching, since, with a degree in economics, the contestant from Olot worked at the Seat factory in Barcelona and then, for 24 years, was head of purchasing for an industrial supply company in Olot. That said, he has always remained curious and eager to learn: "I know many things from many different fields, but I'm not a specialist in anything." "I didn't study before the competitions; rather, it's the knowledge I've accumulated throughout my life through reading, film, theater, and travel," she argues.

Uninhibited singer and reforms for a good cause

Beyond his talent for answering questions, Coromina has also left his mark on television with memorable moments and a host of sketches for the'APM?, daring to sing or appear in disguise before the cameras: "I'm part of a gospel choir, I'm not very shy. And, after so many programs, if we didn't do something different in the presentation, it would have been very boring. Many times I surprised Llucià and the team by singing."

The contestant has won almost 70,000 euros, but without managing to answer all five questions in the final minute of the jackpot. On 18 occasions, he was just one question away, and on three of those occasions, he says he would have answered correctly if he'd had more time. But he's not upset; quite the opposite, in fact. As he explains, "If I had won the jackpot the first few times, the prize would have been smaller, I would have had to leave, and I wouldn't have had all these experiences."

Although the most valuable part has been the experiences on set, money is always welcome, and the contestant from Olot has used it to make home improvements for a very special purpose: "My son uses a wheelchair, he lives in the United States, and with the money, I want to build a ramp so he can come home and also adapt the house."

Filming in Sant Just for a year

Coromina had already participated in theCatch me if you can on TV3 in 2019, when only the weekend version existed, playing two shows, reaching the final, and winning 500 euros. Since he couldn't have done better, he was hooked, and in 2024, now on the daily version, after retiring, he returned to compete, this time alongside his son. "He lasted three shows, and I lasted 158. I can't believe it. I thought he could be a good contestant, but I never would have imagined something so foolish," he says.

The show is filmed at Mediapro's studios in Sant Just Desvern, one day a week, from morning till night. All the shows that have aired were filmed by Coromina between November 2024 and October 2025, traveling to the Barcelona studios each week from Olot. "I became friends with the team and also with many contestants, like in Simón, who won the biggest jackpot in TV3 history"...whom we have been meeting," he concludes.
