BarcelonaIt was during the pandemic that Núria Casas installed the TikTok app and dared to make videos caricaturing different types of mothers, teachers, or comparisons about how school was a few years ago and how it is now. A direct and realistic format that has connected enormously with the public and has become her current job as a content creator.

It's clear she knows a lot about education: she worked in a nursery school and her parents are also teachers. A large family where she grew up surrounded by notebooks and exams to correct, although she assures: "I never felt like my parents were teachers at home, my parents are my parents. My mother was my teacher for two years and it was a very fun experience, I think more for me than for her" she says laughing.

From mathematics to music

As a student, Núria Casas went through three different schools; mathematics was always her stumbling block and her favorite subjects were the more creative and energetic ones. “The subject I did best in was Physical Education because I loved running!” But it was thanks to the plays that were organized at school, where she gave her all, that her true vocation came to light. She admits that she has always had it "very clear" that she wanted to be an actress. "That's why I did theater two afternoons a week and that gave me life. Even if they were small roles, I felt like I was making a very important movie and I took it very seriously".

An artistic interest that is closely linked to the good memory she has of Carmen Amat, her music teacher at the Music Amat academy in Gavà. “I agreed to sign up for music like all my siblings have done, but what I didn't know is that I would like it so much. With Carmen I was able to discover that I was passionate about singing and the piano. Now she is my son's teacher, who is just as delighted”.

Although she no longer works as a nursery teacher, she remains very involved with her children's school and has publicly supported all the strikes and mobilizations that have been driven by the different educational sectors this year. Precisely her community of followers is made up of a large number of teachers who take Núria's exaggerated portrayal with humor and leave her countless comments and messages thanking her for the visibility she gives them. This situation "makes me feel very loved because I just try, through humor, to say everything that needs to be said. If my voice is a way to reach more people, I will do it. Teachers need to be heard and helping them is the least I can do".

The best friend

Now it's her turn to experience education from the other side, as the mother of Biel and Àlex. Núria has experienced this return to school with a bittersweet feeling because, on the one hand, you see them happy, but like all parents, she also worries about "how they will adapt or if they will be well in class. All students go through complicated times at school, and that's why I hope that when they have any problem they can explain it to me with confidence and that they can also talk about it with their teachers". The actress is clear that "teachers are essential in our children's lives. Currently, they don't have the resources to attend to all diversity and cannot reach everyone. I believe that the education sector is the most important and the fact that it is not being cared for enough will eventually take its toll".

Actress, tiktoker and educator Núria Casas

From her adolescence, she particularly remembers the trip to Paris she took in her fourth year of secondary school and the friendship she forged with a schoolmate who is still her best friend today. “We met when we were twelve years old and she arrived as the new girl. Due to life's circumstances, our parents also met and without ever having exchanged a word, I found that she had to come and sleep over at my house for a few days. We became friends out of necessity and now she's like family”.

Núria Casas' time at school has left a strong mark on her journey: the discovery of an artistic vocation, her interest in music, and a best friend for life. That's why, now that she is a mother of two children, she values more than ever the role teachers play and also the importance of extracurricular activities for growing in every sense.
