How many teachers will fall along the way?

BarcelonaAs a parent and teacher, the start of the new school year raises questions to which I have no clear answers. For example, will students remember anything they learned when they return from vacation? Will we be able to make classes more than just fun? Will they want to learn when everything is just a click away? Will we be able to instill in them a culture of effort and the need to interpret, memorize, and acquire new concepts? Will we have families on our side, or will they be suspicious when we demand our rights? Will we be able to ensure that bureaucracy doesn't drain teachers' energy and that they can focus on student progress?

Will AI be our ally or our curse? Will homework have any meaning? Will homework have any meaning, in general? Will anything that isn't done by hand and live be worthless? Will we be able to improve on the horrendous results? Someone important will make a mea culpaHow will we get ahead with today's tools? Will we (really) be able to ban cell phones in the classroom? Will we find a balance between new technologies and traditional methods? Will the classics ever return? And what about literature? Will we have all the necessary material resources, or will we continue with buildings that are cold in the winter and hot in the summer? We may have large screens and lots of computers, but when will we do away with barracks?

Estimate the profession

How many teachers will fall by the wayside? Burned out, disappointed, sick? Will there be more than last year? Proportionately, will civil servants or temporary teachers gain more? Will we have their replacements in time to avoid dying on duty? Will the incorporation of all the new civil servants with permanent positions be reflected in the results and professionalism? How will we manage diversity? And immigration, to avoid ghettos and stigmas? Will someone in the teaching staff remind their colleagues that the teaching language is Catalan? Will some families complain that many teachers teach math, social studies, technology, or physical education in Spanish? How many strikes will be called? What will the students demand? What will happen this year when teachers complain about losing 25% of their purchasing power in recent years? Will we have to stop classes?

Publicly, will they leave us between the horses' legs? They will repeat that that we are privileged In an increasingly poor country (not just economically)? So why is there a shortage of teachers in some fields? In short, these are many questions that are causing concern in our sector. However, most of us still love this old profession. May we have a good year.
