The residents of Greater Manchester choose the successor to Andy Burnham as metropolitan mayor

More than two million Greater Manchester electors are voting today for the successor to Andy Burnham as a metropolitan mayor, after the Labour leader stepped down upon being elected MP and, later, prime minister. The scrutiny will begin tonight and the result will be known at dawn.
