Iran executed nearly 1,000 people in 2024, the highest number since records began

Iran executed 975 people in 2024, 17% more than the previous year, according to a report by several NGOs. According to this annual report, the figure for the last year is the highest since 2008, when the death penalty began to be documented in the country.
