Cocaine: Barcelona, gateway

Barcelona has become the fifth largest port of entry for cocaine in Europe, according to United Nations data accessed by ARA. This drug is the most worrying, also in terms of consumption levels. In fact, Spain is the country that consumes the most cocaine in all of Europe, and, for example, one in four users who visit the emergency room at Hospital Clínic for substance abuse is due to cocaine. We spoke with a user who became hooked on cocaine at age 14 to learn how addiction works, and also with several drug traffickers who explain how this very lucrative business operates.
