Madrid93 apartments available. This is the initial offer from Casa 47, the state housing company, in Catalonia. This Monday, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Agenda launched the portal where the available properties managed by the public entity will be offered. For the moment, it has an initial offer of 800 apartments across the State, 93 of which are in Catalonia, distributed between Barcelona, Girona, Lleida, and Tarragona, as ARA has been able to verify through the web portal.

Specifically, Barcelona already has 25 available homes; in Girona there are 5 apartments; in Tarragona there are 56 properties and in Lleida there are 7. The Spanish government's intention is to expand the offer every quarter. Sources from the Ministry of Housing assure that "soon" 1,500 more properties will be added. The rent for the properties offered in Catalonia ranges between 305 euros per month for the cheapest and 1,012 euros per month for the most expensive.

This is the first portal created for the state public housing stock. Through this website, "anyone will be able to easily consult the available offer and request the home that best adapts to their needs and availability," explain sources from the Spanish government.

Casa 47 apartments will be protected forever and the rental price will take into account the characteristics of the property, but also the economic reality of the municipality and the territory. At the same time, there will be conditions regarding the allocation. For example, in the case of the property with the most expensive rent in Catalonia (it is located in the municipality of Vidreres), the main requirements to access it are an annual income of the cohabitation unit of between 40,480 euros and 63,000, and being a family of two or more people.

Whoever accesses these homes will not have to allocate more than 30% of their income to rent, they defend from the Spanish government. In addition to affordable apartments, prices will be "stable": the contracts will have an initial duration of 14 years with the possibility of extending to 75 years.

A pending decree

With this portal, the Spanish government continues to take steps to try to address one of the main problems in the State: access to housing. "We must ensure that having a home is a realistic aspiration, with realistic rents within people's reach," defended the President of the Spanish government, Pedro Sánchez, this Monday morning, during the presentation event of the new search engine.

Pedro Sánchez's executive went on vacation having shelved a housing decree due to a lack of parliamentary support. The Moncloa's intention was to recover the proposal with the start of the new term, but for the moment things have not moved with the partners of the investiture bloc, on whom it depends whether the measures can prosper. Sánchez will have to strike a balance to satisfy the demands of Junts and Podemos, which are contradictory.
