The Catalan Wallbox allies itself with Jeff Bezos

They will sell him chargers manufactured in Barcelona and explore more collaborations

BarcelonaThe Catalan electric car charging system company Wallbox has signed an alliance with vehicle manufacturer Slate Auto, in which American magnate Jeff Bezos has a stake. For now, it will supply chargers made in Barcelona for Slate Auto's facilities in Indiana, although the two companies "are exploring new collaboration opportunities," Wallbox reported in a statement this Thursday.

The company's president, Enric Asunción, has argued that the agreement "opens the doors to a long-term manufacturer." He is confident that the pact will help them "focus" efforts on markets where they can maximize the profitability of their activity, just after having completed the creditors' adhesion to theagreement to restructure 90% of its debt, 169.5 million. Wallbox landed in the United States four years ago, where it has a 12,000 square meter factory where it has already produced 150,000 chargers.

The Catalan company closed 2025 with 103 million euros in losses, despite having reduced them by 32% compared to the previous year. In contrast, revenues fell by 11% due to "more demanding market conditions," according to the company.

In turn, Slate Auto "will compete directly with Tesla and other manufacturers." The company, in which the founder of Amazon has a stake, expects to start manufacturing a low-cost electric pickup truck by the end of this year, with a forecast of 150,000 units annually.
