BarcelonaThe Barcelona-based biotechnology company Peptomyc has closed a funding round of 5.7 million euros with the entry of the Catalan Finance Institute (ICF) into its capital, which has made an investment of 0.7 million, as reported this Tuesday by the Generalitat's public credit agency.

The resources raised in this round will be used to complete Peptomyc's three ongoing clinical studies on OMO-103, a miniprotein derived from Omomyc that directly inhibits Myc, one of the most pursued targets in oncology. Myc is a family of regulatory proteins that encode other key proteins for the control of cell growth, division, and survival, and it is the oncogenic driver deregulated in approximately 70% of human cancers; that is, it is one of the elements that cause the acceleration of cancer in the human body.

In the first human study, phase 1, published in Nature Medicine in 2024, it was demonstrated that OMO-103 is the first Myc inhibitor to have succeeded in the clinic. The funds will also go toward preparing manufacturing for later stages of development and advancing conversations with potential pharmaceutical partners, the ICF explained in a statement.

Public-private investment

The round started in February 2026 and completed a first closing of five million euros led by Alta Life Sciences Spain I F.C.R. –a fund advised by the Catalan firm Asabys Partners– and Aurora Science, with the participation of the EIC Fund (which is part of the European Innovation Council), Laudecum and CDTI Innovación, through its SICC Innvierte.

The ICF's investment is the first it has made through the Lidera Transferència en Salut fund, which invests in health and life sciences projects originating from Catalan universities and research centers. This fund, with a budget of 60 million, 50 of which come from the Generalitat and 10 from the ICF, supports advanced therapies in the early stage of development to make them viable and contribute to creating companies in which private investors want to invest.

In previous rounds, Peptomyc, which is a spin-off company from the Vall d'Hebron Institute of Oncology (VHIC), has already obtained funding in previous rounds, such as in February of this year, when it already obtained about 5 million euros for the development of its drug.
