The Trucafort wind farm (Priorat) will go from 91 wind turbines to 7
Naturgy will invest €45M to renovate the facility, which will maintain the power
BarcelonaChanges to the Trucafort wind farm, located in the Baix Camp and Priorat regions: it will go from having 91 wind turbines to 7, although it will have the same installed capacity as before. Naturgy will invest 45 million euros to replace all the current equipment with more efficient ones, which will allow it to reduce the number of installed turbines.
The energy company led by Francisco Reynés is the majority shareholder of the infrastructure, which also includes L'Energètica –the public company of the Generalitat for the promotion of renewables–, which holds 9.6% of the shares.
Trucafort has an installed capacity of 29.85 MW and is located in the municipalities of Falset, Marçà, la Torre de Fontaubella, Pradell de la Teixeta, l'Argentera, and Colldejou. According to the Priorat Regional Council, the wind farm is in an area "very close" to the Llaberia mountain range, a space declared of natural interest that is part of the Natura 2000 Network, and is therefore protected.
330 million throughout Spain
The Trucafort operation is part of a broader project, within the framework of which Naturgy will renovate six of its wind farms. In total, it will invest 330 million euros to repower parks in Malaga, Zamora, Navarre, Zaragoza, and Albacete. It plans to replace 274 wind turbines and reduce this number to about forty, while increasing energy production by 75%. At the same time, it will also install batteries with a total storage capacity of between 26 MW and 94 MW and an autonomy of four hours.
The Next Generation European funds will contribute 68 million euros to the total planned investment: Naturgy's projects are the recipients of part of the resources distributed in the second call for investment aid for technological and environmental renewal managed by the Institute for Diversification and Saving of Energy (IDAE), which depends on the Ministry for the Ecological Transition.
