Josep Lluís Sanfeliu will be the next president of Barcelona Global

BarcelonaBarcelona Global's president, Ramon Agenjo, proposed Josep Lluís Sanfeliu, founding partner of Asabys Partners, to the private association's executive committee on Tuesday as his successor as president for the 2026-2028 term. The proposal was unanimously accepted by all members of the executive committee and must be approved by the general assembly of members on June 19, following a favorable recommendation from the entity's supervisory board, which will meet on May 20.

Josep Lluís Sanfeliu is a founding partner of Asabys Partners, a European fund specializing in investment in biotechnology, medical technology, and digital health. He also co-founded Ysios Capital, a pioneer in venture capital. in biomedicine in Spain. Throughout his career, he has funded numerous companies that have emerged from hospitals, universities, and research centers. Within Barcelona Global, Sanfeliu currently chairs the organization's Life Sciences division, having been a member of the association since its inception. He has also served on several executive committees under presidents Emili Cuatrecasas, Maite Barrera, and the current president, Ramon Agenjo.

The list of names that will make up the executive committee during Sanfeliu's term will be presented on May 20th and will consist of a maximum of twenty partners, with ratification by the supervisory board. Initially, names such as Rafael Fontana, honorary president of the law firm Cuatrecasas, are being mentioned for the vice-presidency, according to reports. The Newspaper.

Change of mandate

The statutes of Barcelona Global establish that the mandates of the presidents and the executive committee are only two years, and in the case of the presidency, without possibility.

However, the actual change of president and executive committee will not take place until the general assembly of members votes on the candidacy on June 19. It will be at this meeting that Ramon Agenjo will review his term and be inducted as Honorary President of the association, along with the other presidents who have preceded him.
