MadridIndra, the Spanish technology and defense company in which the State holds 28% of the share capital, looks to the future with optimism. The surge in defense spending due to the rearmament of Europe and EU member states, including Spain, has doubled the company's orders in one year. Thus, between January and March of this 2026, orders reached 20,334 million euros, that is, more than double the 8,003 million registered in the same period of the previous year, as the company reported this Thursday, coinciding with the presentation of quarterly results. In fact, Indra has shattered the results it obtained in the first quarter of 2025. Between January and March of this 2026, Indra has earned 76 million euros, which represents 28% more.

The earnings announced this Thursday are the last of the era of Ángel Escribano, who resigned as president of Indra this April, after a tug-of-war with the Spanish government over the possible acquisition by Indra of his family company, Escribano Mechanical & Engineering (EM&E). As of this April, the new president is the Catalan Ángel Simón, while José Vicente de los Mozos remains as CEO.

Indra has begun to record in its results the acquisitions it closed last year. According to the company's explanation, these operations have contributed "109 million euros" in sales. In the Defense area, the acquisitions of TESS Defence and AERTEC have contributed. In the Space business, Hispasat and Hisdesat, and in the air traffic management business, Micronav and Global ATS have contributed.

The company's debt has soared from 129 million euros to 855 million euros at the close of March, and first-quarter revenues grew by 15% in all business areas, with space and defense standing out above all.
