MadridIndra's staff met this Wednesday with the president for the past two weeks, Àngel Simón. Both the Catalan executive and the CEO, José Vicente de los Mozos, summoned the employees and explained the company's situation, where the leadership has just experienced an earthquake with the departure of the then-first executive, Ángel Escribano. However, the change in presidency is not presented as a shake-up: "We are now beginning this new phase with Àngel Simón, who also supports the [company's] strategic plan," De los Mozos stated this Wednesday morning, during an appearance at a forum organized by El Español. In fact, he has assumed the executive functions as CEO, not Simón. The executive joined the company in 2023, under the mandate of Marc Murtra.

"I worked as a team with Marc Murtra and with Ángel Escribano, and I will do so with Àngel Simón," said De los Mozos, who limited himself to thus valuing the change in leadership. The strategic plan currently on the table was presented in March 2024 by Murtra and De los Mozos. A roadmap under the slogan Leading the future which is to be updated in 2026, in principle this first semester. In fact, the CEO stated that they are already working on it and has positioned it as one of the priorities. In this plan, Indra projected revenues of 6 billion euros for 2026, but which would now be significantly exceeded thanks to European and Spanish rearmament.

20 billion in orders

The CEO has put the order backlog that Indra has for 2026 at "20 billion euros", and not only has he cited some examples, but he has also taken for granted that "more things will fall", in reference to new contracts. The priority, De los Mozos said, is to comply with deliveries. "Today Indra has more than 20 billion euros in its backlog, so the first priority is delivery; the second, delivery and the third, delivery, and that's what we have to do in the sector", he said.

In any case, Indra aims to be the "leading" company in the defense sector in Spain. "We have to keep evolving towards this. We will not always agree, but the commitment is to work with alliances. Not a single company can work alone. We must be generous, on everyone's part", said the CEO. This privileged position of Indra, especially regarding the distribution of resources that depend on the Spanish government and thanks to which companies in the sector see their results grow, has generated tension in the sector about whether a "monopoly" situation could be created.
