BarcelonaThe Codorníu Raventós group has announced the sale of its California winery –Artesa Winery– to winemaker Jean-Charles Boisset, owner of the French wine sector company Boisset. In a statement issued this Wednesday, the company argues that the operation is a response to "a strategic review of the portfolio aimed at focusing investments and resources on regions that are priorities for the company." As company sources have detailed to ARA, Codorníu is divesting its entire stake in the capital of the American winery.

The sale takes place in the same week that the Cava group released its results for the 2025 financial year, which were historic in terms of sales after recording gross revenues of 234 million euros. During the presentation, the group's CEO, Sergio Fuster, already anticipated that the company did not rule out "specific divestments" in segments it considered less strategic. At the same time, Codorníu's main shareholder –the American fund Carlyle, which owns more than 60% of the company– continues to look for a buyer for its shares.

According to Codorníu, the operation announced this Wednesday allows for the incorporation of Artesa Winery into "one of the most prestigious family-owned wine groups in the world," with a presence in some of the most iconic areas of France and the United States. "We are convinced that Boisset is the best custodian to lead the next stage of development. Its knowledge of the local market will allow it to further boost its extraordinary potential and guarantee the continuity of its legacy," summarized Fuster.

Founded in 1991 as Codorníu Napa, the Artesa Winery was born with the mission of producing sparkling wines in the state of California. With an area of 140 hectares, the territory stands out for the growth of varieties such as Chardonnay or Pinot Noir. With an annual production of 230,000 bottles, the business contributed three million euros to Codorníu's gross operating profit (EBITDA) in the 2025 financial year, which totaled 46 million.
