Catalan Salvador García-Ruiz, Telefónica's new communications director
The Vallesan executive was CEO of ARA between 2013 and 2019.
BarcelonaSalvador García-Ruiz, formerly CEO of ARA and currently the General Manager of Indra in Catalonia, will succeed Eduardo Navarro as Director of Corporate Communications and Marketing of the multinational telephone and telecommunications company Telefónica.
The change takes place just over a month before Telefónica's chairman, Marc Murtra, unveils his new strategic plan on November 4th. García-Ruiz thus follows Murtra's steps from Indra—the company of which he was chairman until last January—to Telefónica. Specifically, Murtra replaced José María Álvarez-Pallete at the head of the telephone company last January.
García-Ruiz replaces Eduardo Navarro as head of the renewed position of director of corporate communications and marketing (in business jargon, dircom), a position that unites Telefónica's Brand, Sponsorship, and Media on a global scale, and joins the group's executive committee based in Madrid.
Eduardo Navarro will maintain his position as president of Telefónica Brazil and will be an advisor on corporate affairs to the presidency, a position from which he will facilitate the transition process in the coming months, according to the Efe news agency.
Long career
Salvador García-Ruiz is an economist and executive of media and financial and technology companies. Born in Santa Perpètua de Mogoda in 1976 and a graduate of Pompeu Fabra University, the Vallesan executive He was CEO of ARA between 2013 and 2019.
Throughout his career he has held management positions in various companies, such as CEO of the Abacus cooperative, or the position of Deputy General Manager of Caja de Ingenieros. In the past, he was also director of operations at Caixa Manresa and, with the merger of the savings banks, director of knowledge and research at the Fundació Catalunya La Pedrera. In 2022, he was one of the driving forces behind the think tank Catalunya Sense Límits
Last year he was the general manager of Indra in Catalonia. He is currently also a director and investor in thestart-up Roka Furadada.
