Before receiving the award, the Minister of Economy, Alícia Romero, who read the list of merits, cited Calviño as an example of "female leadership and good politics." Collboni, for his part, thanked Calviño for the help he received at different times during his political career. He added that the EIB is "one of the first European institutions to understand" that a response must be given to the housing problems facing major European cities.
