According to the group, this increase is due to "organic growth, as well as a strategy of expanding and renovating existing establishments." The company also highlights "the boost from the central processing facility and the agricultural division" as key elements in maintaining business expansion. In addition to its supermarkets, Ametller has a significant portion of its supply chain integrated within the company, as it also produces fruit and vegetables on its own farms located throughout Catalonia, Aragon, the Valencian Community, and Andalusia. "Healthy eating, and specifically fruit and vegetables, continue to be one of the cornerstones of our business model," stated Josep Ametller, the company's CEO, in the press release. After several years of a high number of new store openings, Ametller only inaugurated two new locations: one in Sant Andreu de Llavaneres (Maresme) and the other in the Gràcia district of Barcelona. The latter also serves as a training store for employees. These two openings bring the company's total number of stores to 147. Ametller has also maintained production growth at its Olèrdola workshop, where it produces ready-made meals, and has reached an agreement with the Empordà-based company Arnall for the co-management of the group's butcher shops, which is already operational in the Girona region and the Barcelona metropolitan area. The company's professional channel also expanded, ending the year serving 500 restaurants, 80 hotels, and approximately 100 schools. Currently, the group employs around 4,200 people. Agroparc moves forward
Meanwhile, the group is pushing forward with the controversial Agro-Park project in the municipalities of Gelida and Sant Llorenç d'Hortons, in the Alt Penedès region. The company's planned investment—made through a separate entity from the one encompassing the rest of its business—is set at €180 million over five years to construct an agricultural and industrial park encompassing farms, warehouses, workshops, packaging plants, and renewable energy facilities spread across 258 hectares. The mega-project has the support of the town councils of the two municipalities where it is to be located, but at the same time faces opposition from 137 environmental and agricultural organizations, including Unió de Pagesos, the largest farmers' union in Catalonia.
These organizations have denounced "serious irregularities" in the approval of the project by the Catalan government and the two city councils and have taken legal action. Last July The works were temporarily halted by order of a judge due to the potential impact they could have on the habitat of Bonelli's eagle in the area, an endangered bird species and therefore protected by law. Finally, Work resumed after the court considered that they met the environmental requirements demanded by the Generalitat.
