BarcelonaXantal Rodríguez and Irene Solà share a generation and a landscape. The former is from Arbúcies and is the singer of Remedy of Ca la Fresca, which has songs like Mountain pain, included on the disc The hook of the question (BankRobber), One of the best albums of 2024 according to the ARAThe second, the writer, is from Malla, and has made the mountain an omnipresent character in the novels I sing and the mountain dances (2019) and I gave you eyes and you looked into the darkness (2023), both published by Anagrama. This second book is the one recommended by Xantal Rodríguez, who closely experiences the colors, smells, and rapture of nature inherent in Irene Solà's literature.

I gave you eyes and you looked into the darkness I like it a lot because it's a book that takes place in Guilleries, close to home, that talks about an entire family of women and that has a frenetic, non-stop pace that keeps you from getting bored. I couldn't stop devouring the novel, because it's a non-stop jolt. It throws you from one side to the other. I think the pace is very well conceived, the vocabulary is very rich and the descriptions are very good. It makes you really enter into what it describes, like the food they cook," explains Rodríguez about a novel that this summer also has recommended another young musician, Vicenç Calafell, from the group Fades.

The singer of Remei de Ca la Fresca remembers that she read I gave you eyes and you looked into the darkness One summer during "a trip north, toward the mountains." "It was raining a lot and we spent many hours cooped up in the van, and I read it there. Maybe it's more of an autumn book than a summer one. In any case, it works very well for rainy summer days," says Xantal Rodríguez.
