The youngest of three sisters in a Franco-Algerian family living in the suburbs De Paris is a character in a constant process of reconstruction and internal debate. A practicing Muslim, she studies at university, plays soccer, travels by public transport, and her family doesn't know she's a lesbian. She's a girl of her time, of our time. But that present clashes with the identity that her family, her culture, and her religion demand of her. An impressionistic film about the classic existential doubts of late adolescence. The little daughter is similar to The life of Adèle by Abdellatif Kechiche (Hafsia Herzi appeared as an actress in Couscous(from the same director), perhaps not as impressive. But it is a very good example of the difficult decisions that anyone must make, weighing the dictates of the group against their individual will.
