Rumba in the Bon Pastor and Barón de Vivero neighborhoods of Barcelona
The new Al Son del Barri festival is hosting concerts and panel discussions until July 12.
BarcelonaThe Bon Pastor and Baró Viver neighborhoods of Barcelona are launching Al Son del Barri, a festival that invites you to delve into Catalan rumba and flamenco. The program combines live music, workshops, panel discussions, and exhibitions.
Peret Reyes, Maruja Garrido, and Susi Ferrer will moderate the panel discussion. Past, present and future of Catalan rumba, which will be held at the Bon Pastor Civic Center and which will begin its activities this afternoon. Also featured on the program is the flamenco dance master class that will be held by the flamenco dancer Eli Ayala—it will be on Wednesday afternoon at the Baró de Viver Civic Center. Following this, in Robert Gerhard Square, there will be a practical Catalan rumba workshop to learn its origins, rhythms, and beats with Johnny Tarradellas. On Thursday, there will be a showcase of local artists from Baró de Viver with Rumba Fusión, the group that will perform in the square of the Baró de Viver Civic Center at 7 p.m. And on Friday, it will be the turn of local artists from Bon Pastor: the Isabel Domínguez Paniagua Gardens will host a flamenco recital by Antonio Campos. Bocaíllo and the group Alhambra. The party will close on Saturday with a tribute to the Barcelona-based 1970s Catalan rumba group Rumba 3 and a concert by Arrels de Gràcia. The initiative was led by the Taller de Músics, the participating civic centers, and the Transforma't Bon Pastor Service, with support from Icub and the Sant Andreu district.
