Oasis will perform in Barcelona in the summer of 2027

BarcelonaIt is now official: Oasis will visit Barcelona in the summer of 2027. They will perform two concerts at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys on July 10th and 11th. The announcement was made official this Monday at 5 PM (Catalan time), days after the British tabloid The Sun fueled rumors of a European tour by the band. This is the second reunion tour for the Gallagher brothers after their reconciliation in August 2024. Oasis will also perform in Glasgow, Manchester, Munich, Amsterdam, Paris, Rome, Boston, Las Vegas, Slane Castle (Ireland), and Knebworth (England). Tickets for the 38 concerts will go on sale on Thursday, September 17th, and prior registration at oasis.net will be required.

The news had gained momentum last week following some videos posted on the group's social media in which a new tour was hinted at. In one of them, a poster with the name of the painter Joan Miró is identified, while an acoustic version of Don’t look back in anger plays. The band's last tour, Oasis Live 2025, grossed nearly 383 million euros with a total of 41 concerts around the world. But the Gallagher brothers did not perform in Europe, beyond the United Kingdom and Ireland, in a reconciliation tour that has also left Oasis: don't look back in anger, a documentary released at the Venice Film Festival and currently in theaters. Directed by Dylan Southern and Will Lovelace, and written by Steven Knight, creator of the series Peaky Blinders, the documentary celebrates the fraternal peace that gave rise to the tour.

The British band returns to Barcelona eighteen years after their last concert in Spain. It was in 2009, when the group was presenting the album Dig out your soul, on a tour that included a performance at the Olympic Pavilion of Badalona and another at the Palau d'Esports. The Gallagher brothers also performed on July 16 of that same year as headliners of the Benicàssim International Festival, in Oasis's last concert in Spain and one of the final performances before their definitive breakup.

The straw that broke the camel's back

In August 2009, Oasis arrived in France to perform at the Rock en Seine Festival, in Saint-Cloud, near Paris. However, the concert never took place. The Gallagher brothers had fought to the point that Liam had picked up a guitar as if it were "an axe," threatening his brother. That fight was "the straw that broke the camel's back," in the words of Noel Gallagher himself in the documentary Sky Arts, of a relationship that had been forged through discussions since 1994, the year of the band's debut album, Definitely Maybe. "It is with sadness that I announce that tonight I am leaving Oasis. People will write and say what they want, but I cannot go on working with Liam for one more day", said Noel Gallagher in the statement. The author of Wonderwall and Live forever he also explained that he felt that people "had stopped listening to new albums" and that "they only filled stadiums for the hits they had made in the nineties".

After years of reproaches, Liam and Noel Gallagher made peace definitively two years ago in one of the most anticipated returns in the music industry. According to Liam himself, it was the band's singer who took the first step by calling his brother, an approach that trended on social media after thousands of fans recovered a post by Liam Gallagher on X in which he said: "If Manchester City wins the Champions League I will call my brother and reunite the band". Another reason for the reconciliation, pointed out the newspaper Manchester Evening News, it was Peggy Gallagher, the musicians' mother, who told them: "I will not die without seeing you together one more time".
