'Mar i cel' sails with the Liceu Orchestra and Choir

BarcelonaThe Choir and Symphony Orchestra of the Gran Teatro del Liceo, under the baton of Pablo Assante and Sergi Cuenca, offered this Wednesday a tribute to Dagoll Dagom, one of the most emblematic theatre companies in the country, which will say goodbye to the stage this Sunday, coinciding with the Sea and sky at the Teatro Victoria. It was the first of two days of the initiative. Classic on the beach, in which L'Auditori and the Palau de la Música are also involved.

In front of some 30,000 people according to data from the Guardia Urbana, and afterA Midsummer Night's Dream by Felix Mendelssohn, the repertoire has focused on the songs of Sea and sky in a symphonic version and with the participation of Albert Guinovart, composer of the musical's original music, on the piano, and with the collaboration of Pep Cruz and Àngels Gonyalons, two historical figures of the company, who were responsible for presenting and narrating an evening that had subtitles in Catalan, Spanish and English.

The cast of Mar y cielo that has participated in the production has been made up of: Jordi Garreta, Alexia Pascual, Abel García, Albert Gracia, Berta Luna, Xavi Fernández, Eloi Gómez, Clara Renom, Sergio Escribano, Candela Díaz Sanz, Esteve Roig, Cisco, Aparicio, Carme Giner, Biel Llongueras, Guillem Ripoll and Guillem Fole.

The founder of Dagoll Dagom, Anna Rosa Cisquella, explained at the press conference that being able to participate in Clásica en la Playa is a "dream" that comes within the framework of a very specific situation: her departure from the stage. "We have approached it in an open way, for everyone, with music and acting," she noted, "it will be different from what you can usually see."

A popular and festive repertoire

Classical on the Beach offers a second concert this Thursday, in which the Barcelona Symphony Orchestra and National Orchestra of Catalonia (OBC), conducted by Ludovic Morlot, and the Chamber Choir of the Palau de la Música will perform a popular and festive repertoire focused on opera. Carmen by Bizet. The mezzo-soprano Silvia Tro Santafé, soprano Mira Alkhovik, bass-baritone Marko Mimica, and tenor Marcelo Puente will participate. The concert will also include Three Spanish Dances by Enric Granados.
