BarcelonaFifteen years after revolutionizing the international scene with Julia, the Brazilian director Christiane Jatahy returns with the emblematic creation to renew it from the present. Titled Julia - 15 years later (2011-2026), this new co-production between Temporada Alta and Teatre Lliure reinterprets the classic by the writer August Strindberg, Miss Julie, to transfer the conflicts of class, desire, intolerance, and misogyny to present-day Catalonia. It will premiere on October 16 and 17 at El Canal de Salt and will subsequently run at the Teatre Lliure de Gràcia from October 22 to November 15.

Originally premiered in Brazil in 2011 and presented in Europe in 2013 by Temporada Alta, the play now returns with a direct dialogue with our reality. Jatahy combines live theater with cinema; Catalan performers Júlia Genís and Moha Amazian act on stage while interacting with recorded images of the actors from the 2011 Brazilian version, Julia Bernat and Rodrigo de Odé. This temporal crossing highlights the relevance of the questions and social barriers posed by the original text at the end of the 19th century.

In parallel, the Teatre Lliure and CaixaForum+ have presented the third season of the audiovisual project La plaça, produced by Elsabeth Produccions. The series consists of four 45-minute documentary pieces that offer an intimate portrait of the creative processes and rehearsals of big names of the 26-27 Season. The first episode, available on October 27 on CaixaForum+, will be dedicated to Christiane Jatahy in a conversation with director Sílvia Ferrando, and the season will continue with episodes dedicated to Lucía Carballal, Pablo Messiez and Pol Guasch, and David Selvas.
