A journey through the D'A Festival 2026 in nine films and a series

From the focus on Christian Petzold's films to Werner Herzog's African documentary or the most honest series about motherhood

BarcelonaIf the lifeblood of cinema is renewed and flows through the veins of theaters, it's thanks to festivals like D'A, which celebrates its 16th edition from this Thursday until March 29th. More than 120 films will be screened at the festival's various venues (CCCB, Mooby Aribau, Filmoteca de Catalunya, Zumzeig, and Casa Montjuïc), which will feature the star presence of Mia Hansen-Løve, winner of the 2026 D'A Award for her still short but extraordinary career.

'Mirrors No. 3'

'The Love That Remains'

'Ghost elephants'

Fans of Werner Herzog will need only a few seconds of the filmmaker's abrasive narration to feel right at home in this National Geographic documentary that sets out in search of the largest elephants on Earth. Blending adventure and anthropological research, Herzog amplifies the mythological dimension of the creatures he pursues, like a dream that haunts him.

'The Sound of Falling'

The film that impressed hardcore cinephiles at the last Cannes Film Festival is a magical realism tale set on a farm in northern Germany that intertwines the stories of four women from different eras.
