Javier Pérez Santana, sentenced to four months in prison for the sexual assault at the Feroz Awards

The actress laments that legal proceedings "are long and complex, and one has to relive what happened over and over again," and emphasizes that "reporting also comes at a price." She also encourages women in the cultural industry "to speak out against any situation of abuse" and asserts that reporting "is necessary." "We cannot allow those who have committed these crimes to go unpunished," Jedet states.

Obscene gestures

The ruling details the four occasions on which the actress was assaulted by the producer. The text specifies that, on one of these occasions, Pérez Santana "grabbed her buttocks" and that, when Jedet confronted him about it, he told her: "You're very bad, we don't want you, we wanted you to be part of our family and now you'll be left out." The man approached her again, even though she avoided him, and grabbed her breasts. On a final occasion, the producer "made obscene gestures with his mouth until security personnel removed him." At that moment, Jedet suffered an anxiety attack and took refuge in the bathroom.

The producer's defense argued that Pérez Santana was "under the influence of severe alcohol intoxication" and that "his physical and mental faculties were impaired by the antidepressant medication he was taking." The judge stated in several parts of the ruling that Jedet's testimony was "consistent, coherent, and without essential contradictions," as well as "corroborated by witness statements." As a result of the events, the actress suffered from anxiety and was forced to stop working for several months.
