BarcelonaThe Aragonese musician Enrique Bunbury has confirmed that the songUngrateful whore, included in the albumCherry season(2004, shared with Nacho Vegas), was not directed at Eva Amaral, a member of the duo Amaral alongside guitarist Juan Aguirre. Through a Facebook post, he explained that the rumor about this supposed dedication "has no solid basis."

Bunbury has clarified the origin of the misunderstanding and explained that in 2004 the promoter Gay & Company proposed to Amaral that they be the opening act for Bob Dylan on a tour of Spain. "Gay Mercader told me they'd had a problem with Juan Aguirre's hand and that I could replace them." The singer offered, but Eva Amaral decided to continue with the concerts alone after journalist Jesús Ordovás encouraged her not to miss the opportunity to play on Dylan's tour. "I was happy for her, even though I was excited to open for Dylan. Amaral didn't take my place at all. It was his. I wasn't angry," Bunbury says in the statement.

However, at that time the false rumor spread that Bunbury had dedicatedUngrateful whoreto the Aragonese duo, fueled by verses like "you won the spot with ingenious naivety" or "I don't know anyone who lies like you with such discipline, precision and sincerity." More than twenty years later, Eva Amaral herself has asked the networks to definitively deny the rumor. On August 15, the duo's official account on X responded to a comment on the subject urging it to be resolved once and for all: "Instead of coming here to attack and explain stupid things, why don't you ask Bunbury? Do we think it's time for the truth to be explained and in the process for his followers to leave us."

Following this request, Bunbury has decided to speak out and has insisted that the song has nothing to do with Amaral. She explained that it is a piece inspired by the Latin American songs of spite that she likes so much, and not by any conflict with Amaral. He also wanted to emphasize that "Amaral is a duo of evident and immense talent, to whom I send my admiration and apologies for everything they have suffered."

This is not the first time Bunbury has tried to put an end to this rumor. In 2014, in an interview with the magazineEfe Eme, had already denied any relationship betweenUngrateful whoreand Eva Amaral, and complained that his answers often disappeared from interviews: "Don't let reality screw you up, up comes good news!" At that point, he had already explained that the song was linked to his time "wandering around Nicaragua" and not to Dylan's tour.
