Anna Guitart, new director of the Ramon Llull Institute

The journalist and curator at the Guadalajara International Book Fair takes over from Pere Almeda, whose term ended at the beginning of last November.

BarcelonaJournalist Anna Guitart will be the new director of the Institut Ramon Llull. The position had been vacant since early November, when Pere Almeda's term as head of the institution ended. Guitart will serve a four-year term and her objective is to promote the international reach of the Catalan language and culture. The journalist, who until now has been a contributor to ARA Leemos, assumes the position after having been... curator of the Barcelona program at the Guadalajara Book Fairwhich took place at the end of November and beginning of December. Her work consisted of organizing the literary and cultural program of the event: from inviting writers and publishers to attend to launching two exhibitions and the numerous activities that took place around the fair.

Guitart, who is also the presenter of the literary program on TV3 All the time in the worldShe has a long career as a cultural journalist, specializing primarily in literature. Before her, the Institut Ramon Llull was headed by Pere Almeda, Francesc Serés, and Iolanda Batallé. The Institut Ramon Llull is a consortium formed by the Government of Catalonia, the Government of the Balearic Islands, the Barcelona City Council, and the Palma City Council. The governing board of the Institut Ramon Llull that made the decision was chaired by the Minister of Culture of the Generalitat, Sònia Hernández Almodóvar; the Regional Secretary for Culture and Sports of the Government of the Balearic Islands, Pedro Vidal Monserrat; and the Councillor for Culture and Creative Industries of the Barcelona City Council, Xavier Marcé.
