The presenter of La 1's news program leaves RTVE to become Queen Letizia's secretary.

BarcelonaJournalist Marta Carazo will present this Friday for the last time the second edition of the Newscast from La 1 and will leave the public corporation to become the new head of Queen Letizia's secretariat. She also headed the main news program on public television from 2001 to 2003. Carazo's decision was announced by RTVE through a press release, stating that the journalist is leaving public television "to begin a new professional project," about which no further details were given.

According to the SER network, Carazo's choice would respond to Letizia's interest in having a woman occupy the highest position within her secretariat. In fact, the RTVE journalist will be the second woman to assume this position, as her predecessor was María Ocaña, who will leave her duties in August for "family and professional reasons."

Carazo has worked at RTVE for 25 years. Since January 2024, she has been the face of La 1's afternoon newscast, which she joined after three years as RTVE's Brussels correspondent.
