Anything a celebrity shares on their social media can be susceptible to generating controversy. Rosalía has experienced this firsthand this week, when Argentine fans have revolted against her after she re-shared a video by actress Mia Khalifa that some interpreted as a mockery of the Argentine national team, which last Sunday was defeated by Spain in the World Cup final. This Wednesday, the singer used Instagram to apologize to the Argentine followers who felt offended. "I shared it because "La perla" was playing and I didn't even read what it said. Sorry", she says in a first Instagram story. Immediately after, she shared another one in which she emphasizes: "I only have love for Argentina".

After Spain's victory, Rosalía shared a story from Mia Khalifa in which she simulated singing La perla, a song from the album Lux, and in which a phrase could be read that turned out to be controversial: "This is how life sounds now that the pearls have been defeated". Rosalía shared the story of the Lebanese-American ex-porn actress and influencer because her song was playing, but she didn't realize that her Argentine fans would take badly a publication that calls the national team players perles, a term they understand as derogatory.

The publication has generated an image crisis for Rosalía in Argentina, where the singer has four concerts scheduled starting August 1st. The anger of some followers is so great that some fans on social media have started a campaign to ask for their concert ticket money to be refunded and, thus, to boycott the artist. On the Argentine podcast "La trinchera" they have taken the opportunity to lash out at Rosalía and one of the participants has called her a "fat dyke and lesbian".

Throughout the World Cup, Rosalía has shown her support for the Spanish national team on various occasions. Not only did she attend some of the matches, but after Sunday's victory, she posted an Instagram story in which she could be seen in bed wrapped in two Spanish flags.
