BarcelonaSix years later, Prince Harry, his wife Meghan Markle, and their two children will return to live in the United Kingdom between late August and early September. This unexpected decision puts an end to the voluntary exile of the Dukes of Sussex, which began amid reproaches and tense discussions that were quite notorious. In 2021, a year after expressing his desire to step down from his official duties, Harry was stripped of his honorary and royal military titles. His move to the United States was dubbed "Megxit" by the press. According to British media, King Charles III was informed last Sunday of the Dukes of Sussex's return.

Family discord escalated during the exile. Prince Harry published his memoir A l'ombra (Spare), the couple gave an interview to Oprah Winfrey, which did not paint their family in a very good light, and the docu-realityof the couple was loaded with incendiary remarks against the British monarchy. Despite their efforts, it does not seem that any of their attempts to achieve financial independence were very successful. After all this public exposure, the various reconciliation attempts proved to be unsuccessful. Not only was tension palpable, but Harry also lamented losing the royal security funded by the British.

The return home will not involve any change in Harry and Meghan's status: they will retain their status as non-active members of the royal family and will reside in the country as citizens without any official titles. The couple has two children, Archie, 7, and Lilibet, 5, whom the Dukes have already enrolled so they can start the school year in September. The exact location of their new residence has not yet been revealed, although it is initially ruled out that they will live in royal dependencies. The return of Harry and Meghan promises to reopen an intense media spotlight in a country where the vicissitudes of the royal dynasty continue to generate significant division of opinion and high public interest.

Enric has repeatedly attributed the death of his mother, Princess Diana, to media pressure, and has often denounced the devastating impact that the harassment of the British tabloid press has had on his own family. Whether this return can open the door to a possible family reconciliation is still an unknown, but for the moment, it seems a remote possibility if one considers the couple's recent visits to Great Britain. In his memoirs, Enric went so far as to define his brother as his "arch-nemesis" and there are no signs that the two have reconciled.
